Delete your Hookset account
You can permanently delete your Hookset account and the data stored with it at any time. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
Have a subscription? Deleting your account does not cancel Hookset Pro. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Option 1: Delete in the app (fastest)
- Open Hookset and make sure you are online.
- Tap your profile button, then the Settings button.
- Scroll to Your data and tap Delete account.
- Tap Delete everything to confirm.
This works for guest accounts and linked accounts. Deletion starts right away. If you want a copy of your journal first, use Export my data in the same section.
Option 2: Ask us to delete it (no app needed)
Email team@kalfoundry.com with the subject "Delete my Hookset account". To help us find your account, include one of the following:
- the email address you used to sign in, or say that you used Sign in with Apple or Google, and the email address for that account; or
- your Support ID, shown at the bottom of Hookset's Settings screen.
We will confirm that the request comes from the account owner: either the email arrives from the address linked to the account, or it quotes the Support ID shown in the app. We will delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email. A guest account that was never linked has no email address, so it can be deleted only in the app or with its Support ID.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account and profile.
- Everything synced to your account: catches (including exact locations), photos and photo backups, trophies, cards, trips, spots, gear, setups, tackle boxes, shopping lists, species notes, records, achievements and rewards, settings and device records.
- AI-generated cutouts and artwork, AI request and usage records, and data exports stored on our servers.
- Your Local Waters profile, memberships, public marks, trophy shelf, blocks, hidden marks and reports.
- Messages you sent with Contact developers.
- Hookset's stored record of your subscription status.
- When you delete in the app: the journal and encrypted license copies on that phone.
What is not deleted
- Your App Store or Google Play purchase history, which those stores keep. RevenueCat, our subscription service, keeps its own purchase records under its retention rules; if you ask us, we will request deletion of your RevenueCat customer record as well.
- Copies already outside Hookset: images you shared, files you exported and anything other people saw or saved from public features.
- The shared barcode product cache, which contains no personal information.
- Data on another phone where you used Hookset. Open the app there and use Reset app data on this device, or remove the app.
- Encrypted server backups, which may contain your data for up to 30 days until they expire.
- Purchase and tax records that we must keep for accounting and legal reasons; these do not include your journal.
Delete some data without closing your account
- Delete individual catches, trips, gear or photos inside the app.
- Remove your public marks or leave a community in Local Waters.
- Turn off AI photo processing in Settings.
- Use Reset app data on this device to clear the journal on one phone. Your account stays.
To request deletion of specific data without the app, email team@kalfoundry.com.
